Historical Background

• The MiG‑29SMT (Izdeliye 9.19) is an upgraded multi‑role variant of the classic MiG‑29 Fulcrum, designed by the Mikoyan design bureau
• Its most prominent feature is the large dorsal conformal fuel tank, which significantly raises internal fuel volume and extends combat range
• It is fitted with Zhuk‑ME pulse‑Doppler radar, modern digital avionics, multi‑function cockpit displays and a semi‑retractable aerial refuelling probe
• This upgrade transforms the original air‑superiority Fulcrum into a true multi‑role fighter with enhanced precision air‑to‑ground strike capability
