Historical Background

• The J-10B is an upgraded variant of Chengdu J-10 family, developed for People's Liberation Army Air Force.
• Its maiden flight was completed in December 2008. It adopted DSI inlet, passive electronically scanned array (PESA) radar and improved electronic warfare system.
• Powered by AL-31FN Series 3 turbofan engine, it retains excellent agility of J-10 series while greatly improving multi-role combat capability.
• It can carry modern air-to-air missiles and precision guided munitions, performing air superiority combat, interception and ground strike missions.
• The J-10B took part in many domestic airshows and military exercises to verify its combat performance, laying technical foundation for later J-10C variant.
