Historical Background

• The Su-15UM (NATO reporting name Flagon-G) was developed based on Su-15TM all-weather interceptor, serving as the armed two-seat trainer variant.
• It made its maiden flight in April 1976, retaining combat capability while enabling pilot conversion training for the Su-15 family.
• Equipped with Taifun-M radar, it could carry full air-to-air missile loads for live weapon training and emergency interception missions.
• Operated exclusively by Soviet Air Defence Forces, this type was never exported overseas.
• After the collapse of USSR, small numbers were inherited by Ukraine; most airframes were retired by the mid-1990s.
