    Historical Background

    • Sd.Kfz.7/2 early version was the self-propelled anti-air variant based on the 8-ton Sd.Kfz.7 half-track tractor, entering production in 1942
    • This early variant featured an open driver cabin with no extra armor protection for crew and radiator
    • The 3.7cm Flak37 automatic anti-air cannon was the primary weapon, designed to engage low-flying enemy aircraft, and also used against infantry and light armored vehicles in direct fire missions
    • The gun could be quickly detached for static deployment when needed
    • Assigned to Luftwaffe flak units and panzer division air defense detachments, widely deployed on Eastern and Western Fronts
    • It provided armored columns with medium-caliber mobile air defence, complementing the smaller 20mm Flakvierling 38 systems
