    Historical Background

    • The Ardelt Waffenträger 10.5cm leFH 18 was a late-WWII German self-propelled artillery prototype designed by Ardelt and Krupp.
    • It mounted the standard 10.5cm leFH 18 light field howitzer on a lightweight armoured tracked chassis for mobile fire support.
    • The project was developed in 1944, intended to provide infantry divisions with a cheap, mobile self-propelled howitzer.
    • Only a small number of prototypes were built before Germany’s defeat, this vehicle never entered mass production or widespread combat service.
