Historical Background

• The KV-122 (Object 242) was a Soviet experimental heavy tank developed in spring 1944 at Chelyabinsk Kirov Plant.
• It was built on KV-85 chassis and fitted with a modified IS-2 turret armed with 122mm D-25T main gun.
• Only one prototype was constructed for weapon and mobility trials.
• The project was cancelled once mass production of IS series heavy tanks started, the vehicle never entered service.
