Historical Background

• The KV-8 was a Soviet heavy flamethrower tank developed at Chelyabinsk Kirov Plant starting in late 1941.
• It was modified from KV-1 heavy tank, replacing the original 76.2mm gun with a 45mm cannon and ATO-41 flamethrower.
• The vehicle was designed to assault fortifications, bunkers and fortified positions with terrifying flame attack capability.
• It entered serial production in 1942, assigned to independent flamethrower tank battalions and saw heavy combat on the Eastern Front.
