    Historical Background

    The C1 Ariete is Italy’s indigenous main battle tank, entering service in 1995. The uparmored variant adds extra modular armor modules on turret and hull sides, improving protection against shaped-charge anti-tank weapons. It retains the original 120mm main gun, high mobility and integrated fire control system, serving as the primary frontline tank of the Italian Army.
