    Historical Background

    The KV‑2 “Big Turret” Model 1939 is the early variant of Soviet breakthrough heavy tank. Mounted with huge seven‑sided cast turret and powerful 152 mm M‑10 howitzer, it was designed to destroy fortifications and concrete bunkers. It earned the well‑known nickname “Mobile Washroom”. It participated in Winter War against Finland and early‑stage battles of WWII. Its massive turret brought outstanding firepower but also caused high centre‑of‑gravity and poor cross‑country mobility.
