    Historical Background

    The Sd.Kfz.186 Jagdtiger is the heaviest operational armoured fighting vehicle of World War II, built on the lengthened King Tiger chassis and armed with the powerful 12.8 cm Pak 44 anti-tank gun. Production began in 1944, with limited numbers delivered to German heavy tank destroyer battalions. Its heavy frontal armour and high-velocity main gun allowed it to defeat nearly all Allied armoured vehicles at long range. However, its massive weight caused poor mobility and frequent mechanical failures. Jagdtiger fought on both Western and Eastern Fronts during the final phase of WWII, and remains one of the most famous German heavy armoured vehicles.
