    Historical Background

    The SU-100 is one of the most famous Soviet tank destroyers of World War II, developed on the basis of the SU-85 and sharing the T-34 tank chassis. Mass production began in September 1944 at the UZTM factory. It was armed with the powerful D-10S 100mm main gun, capable of penetrating the front armour of German Panther tanks at long range. With thick frontal armour and excellent mobility, it served on the Eastern Front against German heavy armour. It took part in major late-WWII offensives including the assault on Berlin, and continued service in many nations for decades after the end of World War II.
