Historical Background

The M16 Multiple-Gun Motor Carriage (M16 MGMC) is a famous American half-track self-propelled anti-aircraft vehicle based on the M3 half-track chassis. It is armed with four M2HB .50 caliber heavy machine guns installed on M45 quadruple mount. It entered service in 1944 and was widely deployed in European and Pacific theatres of World War II for low-altitude air defence. The dense firepower could also be used for ground infantry suppression. After WWII, it continued combat service in the Korean War, proving its versatile combat capability. It became one of the most recognizable light anti-aircraft vehicles of the US Army.
