    Historical Background

    The Messerschmitt Me262 “Schwalbe” is the world’s first mass-produced operational jet fighter. The A-2a variant was modified for fighter-bomber roles, carrying bomb loads under the fuselage. It entered Luftwaffe service in late 1944, bringing revolutionary high-speed performance, though its late deployment could not reverse the wartime situation.
