Historical Background

The Pz.Kpfw.III Ausf.N was the final production variant of the Panzer III medium tank, armed with the short 75mm KwK 37 L/24 gun optimized for infantry support. A number of these tanks were sent to Tunisia with the German Afrika Korps in late 1942 and early 1943. They were often attached to heavy tiger tank companies for escort, liaison and infantry support tasks, fitted with sand filters and extra sand guards to adapt to harsh desert conditions during the Tunisia campaign.
