    Historical Background

    This figure set depicts German Panzer Division infantry during the invasion of Poland in September 1939, the opening campaign of World War II. These troops worked alongside early German light tanks to carry out blitzkrieg operations. The soldiers wore field grey service dress, steel helmets and standard pre-war webbing. They were tasked with supporting armoured formations, securing captured positions and mopping up resistance during the rapid advance across Poland.
