The Anshan-class destroyers were the first destroyers donated by the Soviet Union to the People's Liberation Army Navy.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, the People's Liberation Army Navy took over four Gnevny-class destroyers from the Soviet Navy, and named them the Anshan class after the first ship.
This class underwent major modernization around 1970 and remained in service until the 1990s.
