    Historical Background

    The M577A1 is the command post variant based on M113A1 chassis, developed by FMC Corporation. It features an enlarged raised upper hull to allow command staff to stand inside, equipped with roof-mounted auxiliary power unit to support large communication sets. Mainly used as mobile tactical headquarters and artillery fire direction center in Vietnam War. It is unarmed, and the optional canvas tent at the rear can expand workspace for battlefield planning and radio coordination.
