The T58 is a heavy tank that was planned in October 1951, shortly after development of the T57 heavy tank began. It was to be fitted with a 155mm gun capable of firing HEAT and HESH ammunition and a 6-round automatic loader in an oscillating turret on the T43E1 chassis.
Like the T57, the T58's turret was constructed but due to development delays and changes in US military policy, the project was cancelled in January 1957.
