    Historical Background

    The Schwerer Plattformwagen Type SSYS was a 50-ton four-axle heavy flat wagon operated by Deutsche Reichsbahn in WWII, introduced in 1942. It was specially designed to transport heavy tanks and armoured fighting vehicles across European rail networks. These heavy rail flatcars played a vital role in rapidly redeploying panzer units to frontlines, reducing mechanical wear on combat vehicles during long-distance movement.
