German "Leopard" 2A8 main battle tank is the latest model of "Leopard" 2 family, which made its first public appearance in 2023 and was based on the deep upgrade of "Leopard" 2A7+. The tank is specially designed to cope with modern high-intensity combat and multi-dimensional battlefield environment, and has been comprehensively strengthened in terms of protection, firepower and digital system. It adopts a new generation of multi-layer composite armor, the main gun is an improved 120mm L55 smoothbore gun, and the fire control system and target recognition capability are also upgraded simultaneously.

 

In terms of defense, Leopard 2A8 comes standard with the European version of "trophy" active protection system (APS). Combined with phased array radar and laser early warning equipment, it can effectively detect and intercept incoming anti-tank missiles and rockets. In addition, the tank also integrates digital battlefield management system (BMS), situational awareness system and auxiliary power unit (APU), which significantly improves its multi-domain combat capability and battlefield sustainability.
