Historical Background

The AMX is a subsonic single-engine light attack aircraft jointly developed by Italy and Brazil in the 1980s. The two-seat trainer version is named AMX-T in Italian service, while Brazil designates its two-seat variant A-1B. It was designed for advanced pilot training, tactical ground attack and battlefield reconnaissance missions. The AMX series entered service in 1989, serving both air forces for decades. The two-seat variant retains most combat capabilities of the single-seat model, allowing instructors to train pilots while carrying out combat missions. It can deploy bombs, guided munitions and air-to-surface missiles, performing close air support tasks over the battlefield.
