Historical Background

The M24 Chaffee is a famous American light tank developed at the end of World War II. Hundreds of vehicles were supplied to the British Army under the Lend-Lease scheme from 1945 onwards. It replaced the older Stuart series light tanks and served primarily with British armored reconnaissance units in the final European campaigns of WWII. Thanks to its excellent mobility, compact size and upgraded 75mm main gun, the Chaffee outperformed its predecessors in scouting, flank screening and rapid response tasks.

After the end of WWII, large numbers stayed in British inventory for decades. These tanks were deployed for garrison duty, border patrol and military training across Europe and overseas colonies. Even as new armored vehicles entered service, the M24 Chaffee remained a vital asset for British light armored formations in the early Cold War period. It is widely collected by military model enthusiasts, and this M24 Chaffee model kit perfectly restores the variant used by British forces.
