The M142 HIMARS is a wheeled self-propelled multiple rocket launcher developed by the US Army for long-range interdiction.
HIMARS is a smaller version of MLRS and is primarily deployed by the US military's rapid deployment forces, the Airborne Forces and Marine Corps, as well as light infantry divisions, which are capable of rapid transport and concentrated operations.
The HIMARS can carry six GMLRS or one ATACMS.
The United States began providing HIMARS to Ukraine in June 2022, and the Ukrainian military began using it in combat that same month.
