Historical Background

This is a fantasy themed diorama set under Flyhawk’s Iron Ears original illustration series. The SBD-T is a floatplane modified from the famous SBD Dauntless dive bomber of US Navy in WWII. The original SBD Dauntless achieved great fame in the battles of Midway and Coral Sea, sinking multiple Japanese aircraft carriers. The float-equipped variant could operate from coastal waters and atolls, performing reconnaissance, transport and rescue missions in the Pacific theatre. This kit creates a vivid scene of a small transport squad operating with the seaplane on tropical waters.
