    Historical Background

The Carro Armato L6/40 was an Italian light tank designed by Fiat‑Ansaldo, entering service in 1940. It weighed around 6 tons, armed with a 20 mm Breda 35 main gun plus an 8 mm co‑axial machine‑gun. Crew consisted of only two members: driver and tank commander. Mainly used for reconnaissance in North Africa and Eastern Front campaigns. Total production reached roughly 293 units. Some chassis were converted into Semovente 47/32 self‑propelled guns.
