    The FD3S, the third-generation RX-7, has continued to evolve since its debut in October 1991, fulfilling its mission and reaching a state of perfection as the world's only rotary sports car.
    The FD3S, which had been loved and driven for 11 long years, was to be discontinued in August 2002 due to the effects of the 2000 exhaust gas regulations.
    Before production ended, the final special limited edition model, the RX-7 Spirit R, was released in April 2002.
