    Product Description
    Manufactured by LTV, the A-7 "Corsair" is a subsonic carrier-based attack aircraft developed to replace the U.S. Navy's A-4 "Skyhawk." It first entered service during the Vietnam War. Both the U.S. Air Force and the Air National Guard operated the A-7 to replace the A-1 "Skyraider," F-100 "Super Sabre," and F-105 "Thunderchief." In the 1970s, the type was exported to Greece; in the late 1980s, further exports followed to Portugal and Thailand.

    Based on the A-7's outstanding airframe design, Vought later derived the famous F-8 "Crusader" supersonic fighter. The A-7 was the world's first combat aircraft equipped with a Head-Up Display (HUD), an Inertial Navigation System (INS), and a turbofan engine.

    The A-7B variant — 196 units produced — was initially fitted with the TF30-P-8 engine delivering 12,190 lbf (54.2 kN) of thrust. In 1971, the remaining A-7Bs were upgraded to the more powerful TF30-P-408 engine, producing 13,390 lbf (59.6 kN) of thrust.
