OOB Review of TAKOM 2209 1/35 T28 Super Heavy Tank

Brief Summary:

Excellent details and rich configuration. The combination difficulty is not high, and the activity track takes time.

Since TAKOM 2209 1/35 T28 Tank was released, its popularity has never faded. After a long battle, I have finally completed the out-of-box build. Below I'll share the build process with fellow modelers.

▼First, the suspension sections on both sides of the hull. This suspension is designed to be workable, and its structure differs from the Sherman's suspension — the mobility is quite good.

▼ Next comes the most challenging part of this TAKOM 2209 1/35 T28 Tank kit: the tracks. I consider myself a modeler with some experience. These four track runs originally didn't seem like a big deal to me, but after building them, I was exhausted. The parts themselves are flawlessly designed — the gate positions are reasonable, the bonding surfaces are fine, and both the workability and the sturdiness are good. But the repetitive labor of several thousand parts is truly a test of patience — it nearly drove me crazy. Fortunately, I made it through in the end. If you can complete this set of tracks, you should have the right to brag in front of fellow modelers: "Nobody knows more about workable tracks than me."

▼Details at the rear of the hull. These two steel cables still feel a bit weak to me.

▼Details of the lights and light mounts on both sides of the front fenders. The photo-etch parts of the light mounts need to be shaped with a bending tool.

▼The upper hull section of TAKOM 2209 1/35 T28 kit — not many parts, and assembly is relatively simple. I did not install the machine gun; pairing this vehicle with an M2 machine gun looks a bit incongruous.

▼The effect after combining the upper and lower hull.

▼After installing the gun, the in-game "T28" is complete.

▼ The gun can traverse slightly left and right and elevate/depress.

▼ The suspension sections added on both sides of the hull can be built in either the towed or installed position.

▼The final complete state of TAKOM 2209 1/35 T28 Tank Model.

▼ Size comparison between the TAKOM 1/35 T28 and a Sherman — this thing's bulk is quite intimidating.

Brief Summary

Pros: Compared to competing products on the market, TAKOM 2209 1/35 T28 Tank Kit is accurate in research, outstanding in detail, richly equipped, and reasonably priced. The first-release bundle version even includes an extra photo book — excellent value for money, and currently the definitive version.

Cons: The vehicle itself is not difficult to assemble, but you need to spend more than half of your energy on the workable tracks, which is quite a test for the builder.

Recommendation Rating (out of 5 stars): ★★★★☆
