Best panther tank model kit? Guest Reviews, Takom VS TAMIYA, etc.

Which type is the best panther tank model kit? In this issue, we mainly discuss the product evaluations about the popular panther tanks.

The comments mainly come from e-commerce platforms, I will try to share some comments with pictures, let's make a brief summary. Random sorting.

1. TAKOM 35001 1/35 Ausf.G Late (Blitz Super) Panther Tank Model Kit

This is one of the most popular ones.

Comment 1:

I really like Takom’s Quick Build Blitz series. The parts aren’t overly tiny, especially the tracks. Assembling the tracks on the previous Recovery Panther was absolutely miserable.

Comment 2:

Overall it’s good, and the assembly went smoothly. Issues only came up when wrapping copper wire around both sides of the hull.

First, the side wiring: the manual calls for 135mm, but it’s way too long to wrap properly, and the plastic connectors provided are unstable. In the end, I used some electrical wire and soldered it instead.

Second, as shown in photo: the copper wire in the manual has no clearance left in this area, so the turret gets stuck when rotating. I had to drill a hole in the front toolbox to route the wire. The copper wire I used is thinner than the stock one; using the original wire would have been a nightmare and nearly impossible to install.

2. Tamiya 35065 1/35 German Panzerkampfwagen Panther Tank Model Kit

Comment 1:

Old Tamiya kit, simple but tasteful.

Comment 2:

Good model, but there were difficulties with the connection of the tower and the hull, I have it only in one position.

Comment 3:

There’s not much to say about the model — it’s Tamiya, after all.Too bad there’s no camouflage scheme in the instructions, but you can find an approximate one online. So that’s not really a problem.

Comment 4:

Good model, even though it has some flaws.

Comment 5:

Not a very good model kit. I don’t know who I could recommend it to. It’s far too simple for beginner modelers, the quality and detail are weak, lots of parts are missing, and the seams are terrible. Instead of the rubber-band tracks included, I used tracks from another Panther G kit, and basically added leftover parts from other kits just to make the build somewhat interesting.

It’s my own fault – I didn’t realize right away that the price was low because the kit is ancient.

3. 1/35 Germany Panther G Medium Tank Model Kit | Tiger Model 4904

New tank model of Tiger Model by the end of 2025.

Comment 1:
Made in the style of TAKOM BLITZ, there is a connector for assembling the track, the track teeth are molded integrally with the track links and are primitive like on vinyl tracks, the correct shape teeth are only on the spare tracks hanging on the sides.
there is no plastic barrel, only a metal one, two painting schemes are provided with many more options in the decal, the gun mantlet, barrel and cables are made of metal, and the kit includes clear parts and photo-etched parts.

Comment 2:

Not bad for its price. Not RFM, of course, but in general it resembles a panther. Pros: Mets. trunk, good rope, minimum weed, good metal screens. The minus is semi-set tracked ribbons with ridges without cavities.

Recommended for mid-level modelers.

Comment 3:

Well, what can I say here—it’s a very ambiguous model. It seems designed for quick assembly, but some parts are way too complicated for a quick-build kit, while others are overly simplified. It’s as if part of the model was made by a professional and another part by a student.
Hatches can be built open, but there is no interior at all. On the other hand, the model comes with a metal barrel, some photo-etched parts, and a highly detailed metal cable (with a bit of extra length). On the flip side, if you want to quickly build a late Panther, there’s an excellent kit from Takom that is truly a quick-build and doesn’t make you wonder “why was it made like this?” during assembly.

4. Panther Ausf.D Tank Model Kit super AAA of German Sd.Kfz.171 | Meng TS-038 1/35

Comment 1:

It’s fine for the price.

Comment 2:

Excellent WWII Panther tank model. Includes two sets of road wheels (early and late). Can be built as either the Ausf D or early A .

Comment 3:

Excellent, I recommend it. The plastic is gray and softer than the Meng kits I’ve had before. Easy and enjoyable to build.

Comment 4:

Super model, as always Meng performs well.
