AmusingHobby Russian T-72B3A Main Battle Tank AH 35A075 1/35 Unboxing Review

[Model Kit Unboxing] AmusingHobby 1/35 Russian T-72B3A Main Battle Tank (AH 35A075)

Against the backdrop of high-intensity confrontation on the Russia-Ukraine battlefield and the proliferation of FPV drones and top-attack munitions, the Russian military has carried out targeted, in-depth iterative upgrades to its in-service mainstay T-72 series tanks. The T-72B3A, as the latest battlefield variant in the T-72B3 family, features its most significant core upgrade in the form of the Arena-M hard-kill active protection system. It is currently the Russian military's combat-specialized tank built specifically for counter-UAV and counter-infantry anti-tank weapons.

AmusingHobby has tooled a completely new T-72B3A main battle tank kit, reproducing the Russian military's combat variant equipped with the Arena-M active protection system. The box art depicts a stunning battlefield scene of the tank charging through snow-covered terrain. The kit includes a winter/snow camouflage scheme, a subject highly popular among modelers. The kit's materials allow builders to reproduce the vehicle's snow camouflage appearance,

while the sprues/packaging are printed with product manufacturing information and various official social media accounts that can be followed by scanning a QR code.

The chassis uses AmusingHobby's classic common sprues from the T-72 series. The lower hull features a pre-molded working suspension structure and includes interior mounting locating points. Modelers who wish to build a full-interior version can transplant interior parts from other versions in the same series for conversion. There is also considerable anticipation for AmusingHobby to release a factory full-interior kit of the T-72B3A Arena version in the future.

The turret adopts a cast-appearance design compatible with the T-72B3, with its surface densely covered in ERA (explosive reactive armor) mounting holes.

The gun mantlet and headlights are provided as 3D-printed parts; the headlight assemblies feature a cage-type protective structure to minimize the risk of parts being damaged during transport.

The printed gun mantlet reproduces canvas fold details that are rich and accurately researched, saving modelers a substantial amount of work in scratch-building details. However, if the gun barrel's elevation angle needs to be adjusted, it is recommended to plan and complete the adjustment during the construction stage.

Clear parts come on a new common sprue that integrates the clear components required for multiple vehicle types including the T-72 and T-90, offering strong commonality and compatibility with multiple AmusingHobby T-72/T-90 series kits.

The photo-etched fret is a T-72B3-specific configuration, among which the anti-ballistic mesh grilles beneath the front ERA blocks are dedicated parts unique to this kit.

Sprue A is a common sprue, containing multiple parts including the upper hull, and holds a large number of universal components for the T-72 series.

Sprue C contains various universal parts including the main gun, log stowage and front mudguards.

Sprue D includes chassis and hull accessory parts such as torsion bar suspension assemblies, spare fuel drums, front and rear tow hooks, and dozer blade support rods.

Sprue E contains turret-exclusive parts for the whole vehicle, including turret roof, turret base, turret toolbox, gun mantlet, heavy machine gun, various hatches, vision blocks and small external turret details.

Sprue F is a universal sprue for AH’s T-72 and T-90 series. The kit’s basic road wheel set comes from this sprue.

Sprue MA encompasses core dedicated parts including the turret base, hull rear structure, anti-blast components, newly styled front fenders, and the one-piece front hull armor with add-on armor. — This version is a common sprue applicable to the T-90M.

Sprue MB includes the fenders, rear hull armor, drive sprocket mounts, and side skirts, reproducing the side and rear hull details of the T-72B3A Arena version. — This version is a common sprue applicable to the T-90M.

Sprue MD contains drive sprockets, road wheels, idler wheel assemblies, add-on armor, and all the various small fittings required for the complete vehicle, with a very comprehensive parts selection. — This version is a common sprue applicable to the T-90M.

Sprue MG is a newly tooled sprue dedicated to this T-72B3A variant, including the dedicated turret base, newly styled fuel tank fenders, dozer blade structure, and other components.

Sprue MH is a dedicated sprue for this T-72B3A, primarily containing the turret ERA modules and some Arena active protection system associated parts.

Sprue MI carries the core signature parts such as the Arena active protection system and the main gun, and also includes distinctive accessories such as the side skirt rear section and the ERA bracket on top of the gun mantlet. It is the core sprue for reproducing the T-72B3A's iconic appearance.More kit photos and details inside the link.
