Armed with a 115mm U-5TS gun, the T-62 was first used operationally in the Middle East during the Arab-Israeli wars.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp align=\"left\"\u003eThe T-62M was an extensively upgraded T-62 fitted with BDD applique armour, additional belly armour and 10mm think reinforced rubber side skirts. The BDD applique armour includes two horseshoe shaped blocks fitted to the turret and a plate on the glacis. The T-62M is also fitted with the \"Volna\" fire control system with new sights, stabilisers, computer systems and radios.
